Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance for therapy sessions or assessments?
Unfortunately, no. All sessions are paid in advance. If receiving speech-language therapy, I can generate a superbill/claims form which you may share with your insurance company for potential reimbursement, depending on your out-of-network benefits.
Can you provide caregiver coaching sessions, assessments or speech-language therapy in-person?
This is a possibility that we can discuss. If so, sessions would likely be held at a private practice with which I’m partnered in Huntington, or at a local library in the Port Jefferson, Setauket-East Setauket, Mount Sinai, or Stony Brook area. There would be an additional cost per session.
How does this work online, especially if you’re attempting to look at muscle tension and tone?
In addition to using my trained eye, I will be coaching you through different activities, as well as ways in which to move and adjust your child so that I can observe their response. I will tell you what to feel for and ask you for specific feedback along the way. Prior to the pandemic, I provided in-home assessments and therapy sessions only; however, working virtually during the pandemic revealed the power of coaching. Also, you know your child best; therefore, Q and A will be a part of every assessment. Assessments will also consist of clinical observation paired with structured interviews.
What types of payment do you accept? Can I use an HSA/FSA card?
All payments are made via credit or debit card on this website. HSA and FSA cards can most likely be used, but will depend on your HSA/FSA administrator. Always check with your HSA or FSA administrator to confirm eligibility for any particular service or product, as plans may have varying rules and restrictions.
Will you refer to us to other professionals/providers if needed?
Absolutely! If I believe my findings suggest a moderate or significant delay disorder in an area other than Communication or Feeding, or the need for medical attention is warranted, I will absolutely refer you to the right profession! Possible referrals might include:
Ear-Nose-Throat/ENT Physician
State Early Intervention Program
Orofacial-Myofunctional Speech-Language Pathologist, Newborn/Infant Feeding Specialist (NY Speech Cares- Huntington, NY)
Allergist
A specialized Occupational Therapist
A specialized Physical Therapist
